The Formation Program of the Alexandrian Gnostic Church
Holy Transfiguration Gnostic Seminary is a self-paced formation program for individuals desiring ordination as Priests in the Alexandrian Gnostic Church.
The program is based on a 'reading for orders' model and can be completed largely at home, although some travel will be required. There is no tuition for the program, but applicants will need to purchase the required texts and pay a one-time Administrative Fee of $50.00. Most of the texts are available used on Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com for a substantial discount.
The Academic program of study includes: Gnostic scripture, history, holistic psychology, wisdom literature, hermetic sciences, philosophy, sacramental theology, pastoral counseling, and more. Study largely consists of reading required materials and writing essays.
Along with the academic part of the program, the seminarian will be assigned a facilitator and will engage in a program of spiritual development and reflection.
The Alexandrian Gnostic Church does not ordain Priests except for service to AGC communities; as part of the formation program, the candidate is expected to either:
1) Serve in an established AGC parish, assisting clergy in the liturgy, service, pastoral care, etc.
Or
2) Establish and facilitate a local AGC Circle, which will become a parish as it grows.
Seminarians are required to attend the annual AGC Convocation of the Children of Light.
Completion of the Academic program does not automatically entitle the candidate to ordination, which is at the discretion of the Presiding Bishop.
